About Telecoms Networks

Telecoms Networks explains the infrastructure behind an ordinary connection: the radio link to the tower, the backhaul and fibre behind it, the carriers and exchange points that hand traffic between networks, and the provider that bills you for all of it.

We write for curious people, not engineers. Each guide follows one question from the handset or router outwards and names the equipment, the company and the standard involved at each step. Where a network operator can observe or log something about your traffic, we say so plainly and explain what changes it.
